Tequila comes from the heart or
pina of the blue agave plant. An agave
plant takes 8–12 years to reach maturity
and only agave grown in the state of Jalisco
in Mexico is used to distill tequila. By
law, tequila must have a certain percentage
of blue agave to be labeled tequila. The
tequilas listed below are made with only
100% blue agave, making them some of the
best tequilas in the world.
Blanco
(white)
A crystal-clear, unaged tequila. Bottled
shortly after distillation, it delivers
a fresh, clean taste.
Served with a shot of Sangrita, a blend
of tomato, orange and spice traditionally
served in Mexico
with fine tequila. Great alone or in a
Tequila-tini.
Reposado
(rested)
Golden light amber in color and aged anywhere
from two months to one year. Mellow and
rich,
usually with subtle wood tones, it is great
on the rocks, in a snifter or in Tequila-tinis.
Anejo
(aged)
Rich, complex tequila that is aged exclusively
in oak barrels for a minimum of one year.
Deep
amber in color, Anejo has a depth and balance
that makes it exquisite sipping tequila.
Try a flight, a great way to experience
tequila. 1/2 oz. each of a blanco, a reposado
and an anejo. Taste the difference!
